Friday 5s: Celebrating Fathers Day and Homeschooling Dads
I know it’s a bit early – Father’s Day is traditionally the third Sunday in June, this year the 21st – but there’s no harm in being prepared, especially if you fancy making a homemade gift with your children.
I also wanted to bring attention to some websites that recognise and are set up for Dads who are involved in homeschooling. In our case I definitely had the initial idea (which Andy slowly came around to!) and I will be doing the lion share of academic work. But Andy will have an absolutely vital role to play, and as it says in Ephesians 6:4: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
1. Gift ideas for Father’s Day – let the children make something special for Dad.
2. Homeschooling Dads – interviews and questionnaire responses from fathers who homeschool.
3. Homeschool Dads – a website and forum especially for fathers who homeschool their children full or part time
4. The Father’s Role in Homeschooling – a more in-depth and Biblical look at what dads can do from this article in Unless The Lord magazine.
And finally… (I love this stuff!)
5. Famous Father’s Photo Gallery – brilliant pictures of 19 celebrity dads and their children… go on, you know you want to!
